From pink Christmas trees to stoneware cookie jars, there are plenty of viral trends that quickly make their way into homes across the nation. Sometimes, it feels like these styles come out of nowhere and other times, they've been steadily gaining steam for a while.

With a new year just a month away(!), companies like Yelp and interior designers like Dani Dazey (@danidazey) are sharing predictions of the top home trends to expect in 2024, so you can be ahead of the curve and show off your eye-catching living room looks (and more!) before everyone else catches on.

According to Dazey, these are some of the key trends that Yelp has identified for their 2024 forecast that she "totally agrees with."

1. Lighting Swaps

"For lighting, one of my favorite lesser-known hacks is swapping out recessed lighting for other lighting fixtures," Dazey shares. "Canned lighting really takes the character out of a home, and adding something more decorative like a pendant fixture or semi-flush mounts makes such a difference."

2. Pink and Red Hues

One thing Dazey personally loves? "Taking huge risks with bold and punchy paints!" she shares. "With the Barbie movie (and Trixie Motel, wink wink) being so popular this year, it’s no surprise that pink paints are seeing an uptick in searches."

Wondering how to incorporate this into your own home? Dazey says, "It’s all about balance and how you can anchor the pinks with a deeper more muted color. Pink and red have always been a great combo and I’m seeing all shades of red coming back in a big way right now with both fashion and interiors. Don’t be afraid to take a risk with your painting projects. I’ve worked with some great contractors over the years, and using Yelp to find pros who are well-reviewed can go a long way."

3. Statement Mirrors

"I’m all about making mirrors a part of the art—from basic to beautiful," says Dazey. "The statement mirror trend is so fun and can be applied to every style of design. Unique shapes and unexpected frames are my favorite. Just lean into the color scheme or main materials of your room when choosing! Treat it like a piece of art, maybe throw it into a gallery wall."

4. More Maximal Design Across the Board

"I really feel like people are going to lean into more decadent and decorative design that brings charm back into the home," Dazey says, looking ahead to 2024.

But you don't have to wait for 2024 to begin planning your next home decor swaps! With December officially here, there are some great holiday essentials to incorporate in different rooms in your house.

According to Dazey, some must-haves for the holiday season include:

  • Unexpected florals and greenery mixed into your holiday decor
  • Dramatic centerpieces with branches and greenery that jut out on all sides
  • Finding ways to mix fun and nontraditional color schemes into holiday themes
  • Subtle and elevated holiday decor that feels almost like it could be there year-round
