Fixer Upper With Chip and Joanna Gaines Is Officially Ending
Chip and Joanna Gaines broke sad news toFixer Upper fans today. The couple has announced that the upcoming fifth season of their HGTV hit show will be its last.
Joanna's eye for design and Chip's sense of humor—not to mention their obvious adoration for each other—won over audiences immediately when Fixer Upper debuted in 2013. Now shiplap (their favorite wooden paneling) is a household name, and their Magnolia Market at the Silos (a shopping, dining and entertainment center) draws visitors from all over the world to their hometown of Waco, Texas.

Fans of the show know Chip and Joanna as not just a remodeling dream team, but as loving parents of four young kids. Family has always come first on the show, and the ending of Fixer Upper will mean they can spend more time together—but it's certainly not the end of the Magnolia empire.
In a statement on the Magnolia Market site, the couple said, "We would be foolish to think we can go and go and fire on all cylinders and never stop to pause. Our family is healthy and our marriage has honestly never been stronger. This is just us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment. Our plan is to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses."
The couple shared their love story and the rise of their Magnolia ventures in their first book, The Magnolia Story, and Chip will release his first solo memoir, Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff, in October.

The couple continued, "While we are confident that this is the right choice for us, it has for sure not been an easy one to come to terms with. Our family has grown up alongside yours, and we have felt you rooting us on from the other side of the screen. How bittersweet to say goodbye to the very thing that introduced us all in the first place."
We'll miss you, Chip and Joanna!
