4 Ways to Make the Most of Your Mudroom
Is your mudroom doing everything it can? Ask yourself these four questions to make sure your maximizing your mudroom space.
- How many people will use it? The more family members pass through the door, the more your entry needs designated spaces for coats, totes, and other belongings.
- What items will you be storing? Don’t stop at sturdy hooks for outerwear. You may need shelves, baskets, and bins for shoes, boots, hats, umbrellas, sports equipment, purses, briefcases, and homework.
- What other functions can it handle? Make this space work harder by adding a message center, mail stop, chair, wastebasket, landing space for parcels, charging station, and pet amenities if needed (think feeding station or kennel).
- Is it bright enough? A pendant light, task recessed lighting, a standing lamp—or any combination of these—will keep the area bright enough to be able to locate items easily.
